How HFHK is dealing with the Coronavirus Impact

All of us at Healthy Foods for Healthy Kids – the board, staff and volunteers – are actively taking steps to ensure our organization remains strong and thrives as we move through this crisis.  The combination of Delaware school closings until May 15 and a statewide stay-at-home order make it unlikely we will have gardens this spring. We hope everyone takes precautions to stay healthy.

We are using this time to continue our strategic planning efforts, create online workshop opportunities for teachers, and get ready to start four new school gardens when conditions permit.  We are also continuing our fundraising efforts.  Although we had to cancel our May 15 Garden Party fundraiser due to COVID-19, we are grateful to our generous sponsor, and to those who chose to donate the cost of their paid tickets to our cause.  We welcome other donations to HFHK to help keep us strong.

During this crisis, we are comforted by the fact that thousands of Delaware children have learned to garden through HFHK, and that some will have the opportunity to plant a seed and reap the joys and benefits of gardening even while away from school.
