Meet Our Heroes: Celebrating the Champions of Garden Education

Healthy Foods For Healthy Kids (HFHK) is hosting its first “Meet Our Heroes” event highlighting the impact of garden education in schools across Delaware.

Enjoy an inspiring evening filled with heartfelt stories, garden samplings, and meaningful connections. Meet the true heroes—students and teachers—who bring school gardens to life with their dedication and care. Their journeys will no doubt move and inspire you.

Join us for light fare, drinks, and an evening of inspiration as we honor and support our garden heroes who are growing the seeds of a healthier future for generations to come.

Due to limited space, this small event is by invitation only. If you would like to learn more, please reach to Nina Ellis at nellis@hfhk.org

Gals That Give sponsors a fun way for busy people to give to a good cause and make new friends

HFHK was one of the chosen few nonprofits selected by Gals That Give this year. On September 26th, Gals That Give hosted a fun auction event in Dover, DE to raise funds that HFHK will use to bring the joy of gardening to more young people at schools.

It was a day and night to remember!

We welcomed more than 130 guests, including state political leaders, school board members, teachers/garden coordinators and of course Wyatt, the kid with the big personality. Thanks to our generous donors and supporters we netted more than $50,000. That’s a lot of gardening joy we can bring to school kids across Delaware.

The HFHK Inaugural Garden Coordinator Workshop

Fifteen Garden Coordinators (GCs) participated in our first ever workshop. The event was hosted at the FMC facilities and their scientists shared their knowledge with the garden coordinators. The lightning talks by the teachers sparked great energy and conversations prompted by the sharing of best practices. According to program manager Jen Cipolla, the opportunity for GCs to connect face to face to share experiences, ideas and problem-solving will go a long way in creating a more cohesive group that can reach out and rely on and support each other going forward.

HFHK relies on the generosity of donors, like you, to keep our program growing! We are so grateful and thank our sponsors, donors, and new friends for being part of the garden movement!
