Serviam School Garden encourages students to try new vegetables

What impact does HFHK have on the students we serve?  At Serviam Girls Academy, our Education Cultivation school vegetable garden program allowed girls coming from low-income families to have access to a garden and a green space at their school.  This was the first gardening experience for many of the students.  While the girls enjoyed learning about gardening, their favorite part was the eating!

• ALL of the girls reported tasting at least one vegetable from the school garden.

• Over 50% of the girls reported eating 5 or more vegetables from the garden.

• Ninety-two percent of the girls tasted at least two new vegetables that they had never tasted before.
